Claim Bible Promises · Abide in Christ · Walk in the Old Paths
The dragon hates this work because it raises up a people who keep the commandments of God, revive the gifts (miracles), believe the testimony of Jesus, claim the promises of God, and prepare to stand among the 144,000 whose names are written in heaven.
This page is for souls asking how to overcome sin, how to pray in living faith, how to claim the promises of God, how miracles are restored to the remnant, and how the church of the firstborn prepares for translation without seeing death.
"If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."
— John 15:7 (KJV)Not by presumption. Not by noise. Not by smooth religion. By abiding, obeying, believing, and asking in faith.
Miracles are not produced by self-excitement. They spring out of union with Christ. If His words do not abide in the soul, the mouth may speak loudly while heaven remains silent.
Christ joined abiding with obedience. The man who asks while refusing to walk in the light is trying to pluck fruit from a dead tree.
Faith takes God at His word. It lays hold of what He has spoken to us through His Son (Gal. 4:6). It refuses the lie of appearances and stands on “It is written.” Have complete and total DEPENDANCE upon the Word of God which is Jesus Christ (John 1:14).
For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
— John 12:49–50 (KJV)Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
— John 8:28 (KJV)Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
— John 14:10 (KJV)Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
— John 7:16 (KJV)I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
— John 5:30 (KJV) "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you,
ye shall ask what ye will, and it SHALL be done unto you.
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love;
even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love."
"And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive."
— Matthew 21:22 (KJV)"And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God... what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them."
— Mark 11:22–24 (KJV)There is the fraud of the age: men want power without purity, gifts without government, wonders without the Word, and healing without holiness. But the Bible will not bow to that circus.
Christ said, abide. He said, keep my commandments. He said, ask in faith. Here is the ladder the lazy flesh hates.
The remnant are not called to cheap profession, but to living union with the Son of God, through whom heaven’s resources become available to the obedient believer.
“Revelation 12:17. ‘And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.’ The woman is a symbol of the church, and the remnant of the church represents the Christians of the last generation of men, living just prior to the second advent. The dragon makes war on these for keeping the commandments of God, Sabbath and all, and having the testimony of Jesus Christ, which, according to the inspired definition of chapter 19:10, ‘is the spirit of prophecy.’ Here, then, are the causes of the dragon’s warfare upon the remnant. They teach the observance of the Ten Commandments, and the revival of the gifts, and acknowledge the gift of prophecy among them. When the devil got one foot upon the fourth commandment, and the other upon the gifts planted in the Christian church by Jesus Christ, then his satanic majesty was filled with revengeful delight. But when the remnant, whom God designs to fit for translation to heaven without seeing death, ‘ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein,’ then the dragon is wroth, and makes war on them.”
— Ellen G. White, Spiritual Gifts, Vol. 3 (1864), pp. 25–26The promises are not ornaments for a shelf. They are weapons, bread, medicine, title-deeds, and pearls for the taking.
“Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”
“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
“If two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.”
"For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith."
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
“And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. ”
"While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal."
“If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.”
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love."
First, find the promise that covers the need. Second, present it before God (John 16:23) claiming Jeremiah 12:16, say, "As surely as the Lord liveth, before whom I stand" ... then present your petition, in the name of Jesus Christ.
"And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full." — John 16:23–24 (KJV)
Third, believe that His word is true before sense and feeling rise to salute it. Fourth, walk as one who has asked and received. The faith that claims a promise while clinging to cherished sin is a counterfeit coin. But the faith that yields the life, cleanses the heart, and rests upon the word of God moves the arm of Omnipotence.
That is how the saints advance. Not by boasting, but by believing. Not by drifting, but by taking hold.
"This is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us."
— 1 John 5:14 (KJV)"If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it."
— John 14:14 (KJV)"Looking not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen..."
— 2 Corinthians 4:18 (KJV)The Lord has placed in His word a treasury for faith. The promises are not locked to the obedient as mock ornaments. They are placed within reach to be laid hold of with earnest, persevering faith. Heaven’s storehouse is not empty. Men are empty because they ask not, believe not, and abide not.
— Claim the promises. Cleanse the life. Perfect holiness in the fear of God.The remnant are not merely commandment-keepers in theory. They have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
“And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”
“For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
— Revelation 12:17; Revelation 19:10 (KJV)
The warfare is not stirred because the remnant are fashionable religionists who know how to clap on cue. It is stirred because they revive what hell tried to trample: the commandments of God, Sabbath and all, and the gifts planted in the church by Jesus Christ.
Satan was pleased when he put one foot upon the fourth commandment and another upon the gifts. He is enraged when those truths rise again in a people preparing for translation.
The restoration of the gifts (miracles) does not point to confusion, fanatic smoke, and theatrical religion. It points to the testimony of Jesus, heaven’s counsel, living faith, healing by prayer, providential deliverance, and the mighty working of God in a commandment-keeping people.
The remnant are fitted for translation, and heaven does not fit them by lifeless theory. The same God who gave the promises intends that His people should prove them.
“The truths that we received in 1841, ’42, ’43, and ’44 are to be studied and proclaimed. The messages of the first, second, and third angels will in the future be proclaimed with a loud voice. They will be given with earnest determination and in the power of the Spirit.”
— Ellen G. White, Letter 75, 1905“The truth is the same as it ever has been, and not a pin or a pillar can be moved from the structure of truth. That which was sought for out of the Word in 1844, 1845, and 1846 remains the truth in every particular.”
— Ellen G. White, Letter 38, 1906The way of victory is not found by throwing overboard the pillars and baptizing apostasy with a polished smile.
"Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein..."
— Jeremiah 6:16 (KJV)"Set thee up waymarks, make thee high heaps..."
— Jeremiah 31:21 (KJV)"Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set."
— Proverbs 22:28 (KJV)The old paths are not dead museum corridors. They are the highway of life. There the commandments stand. There the sanctuary opens. There the faith of Jesus breathes. There the testimony of Jesus speaks. There the gifts revive. There the promises are claimed.
Men arise with “new light” that contradicts the old foundation and expect the saints to clap for the demolition. But truth does not become false because modern mouths sneer at it.
The remnant cling to the truths sought out of the Word in 1844, 1845, and 1846. Not a pin. Not a pillar. Not one rotten hand laid upon the structure.
“When the power of God testifies as to what is truth, that truth is to stand forever as the truth. No after-suppositions, contrary to the light God has given are to be entertained. Men will arise with interpretations of Scripture which are to them truth, but which are not truth. The truth for this time, God has given us as a foundation for our faith... the standard-bearers who have fallen in death, are to speak through the reprinting of their writings.”
— Ellen G. White, Counsels to Writers and Editors, pp. 31–32And the Word answers them with a straight edge, not a rubber ruler.
You abide in Christ, let His words abide in you, keep His commandments, ask in faith, and claim the promises according to His will. Miracle-working faith is living union with Christ, not spiritual stage-lighting.
The promises make believers partakers of the divine nature. They cleanse the life from filthiness of flesh and spirit, strengthen obedience, and lead to perfect holiness in the fear of God.
The remnant keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ, which is the spirit of prophecy. The restoration of the gifts includes the revival of heaven’s counsel, living faith, answered prayer, and divine power in a commandment-keeping people.
They are the final remnant prepared for translation, sealed in the truth, following the Lamb, standing on the old paths, and written in heaven in the Lamb’s book of life.
The hour is too solemn for dead creeds, sleepy religion, and ornamental Christianity.
